Jeannine I. Mann, 81, passed away at Golden Living Center in Elkhart on Sunday, November 1, 2020. She was born on April 27, 1939 to Harvey and Mildred (Kiefer) Mann in Kalkaska County, Michigan, near Central City.
She is survived by three sisters, Thelma (Jim) Bixler and Marcia (Don) Troup of Elkhart, Elenor Newton of Burkburnett, Texas, and four nieces and one nephew.
Jeannine graduated from Elkhart High School in 1959 and did voluntary service at the Home for the Aged in Rittman, Ohio. She worked at the Elkhart County Home before its closing. Her last job was home health care for Elkhart General Hospital, always enjoying relating to older people.
Her hobby was knitting and later crocheting, making many sweaters, hats, and afghans, which she gave away. She was known for her generous soul and was a giving person.
She was a long-time member of the former Roselawn Mennonite Church and was always helpful with vacation bible school and Sunday school. Billings Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service and burial at Prairie Street Cemetery will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Church Community Services.
Marner, Betty Lou Schrock
March 27, 1946 - July 11, 2020
Betty Lou (Schrock) Marner, 74, of LaGrange, went home to see her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 11, 2020 as a result of Covid-19. She was born March 27, 1946, in Goshen, to Valentine and Barbara (Yoder) Schrock. On July 3, 1965 in Goshen, she married Perry Albert Marner; he survives. Betty grew up in the Goshen area and went to Bethany Christian School until the age of 16. She attended Maple Grove Church of Topeka. Betty and Perry were the owner/operators of Marner's Six Mile Restaurant.
Survivors include her husband Perry Albert Marner of LaGrange; two sons, Chad (Michelle) Marner of Elkhart, Mark (Joni) Marner of Shipshewana; three daughters, Rhonda (Ervin) Lambright of Middlebury, Amanda (Ryan) Zook of Shipshewana, Tiffany Marner of Shipshewana; 12 grandchildren, Stephanie (Jason) Brown, Perry (Chellsie) Lambright, Megan (Grady) Dias, Paul (Darla) Marner, Troy Zook, Kaydince Zook, Toby Zook, Jaylin Miller, Kaylee Marner, Klovor Marner, Gunner Bassett, Emberly Bassett; three step grandchildren, Cherub, Kevin and Carissa; three brothers, Floyd (Darla) Schrock of La Porte, Ernie (Jan) Schrock of Fort Wayne, Glen Schrock of Finley, OH; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and four sisters.
Visitation will be from 2:00 - 8:00 pm on Tuesday, July 14 and one hour prior to the 10:00 am Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, July 15 at Maple Grove Church, 806 S. Main St. Topeka. Services will be conducted by Pastor Jason Gingerich. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Topeka. Due to the current health crisis, the family and funeral home encourage anyone that has been feeling sick or has been exposed to the virus not attend the services. Memorials may be given to Bible Memory Ministries.

Aaron S. Martin, 89, of Narvon, died July 12, 2020, at his home after a brief illness.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., he was a son of the late John N. and Mary E. (Sauder) Martin. He was married 67 years, on Dec. 2, to Martha S. (Nolt) Martin.
Aaron was a farmer and a member of the Churchtown Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are nine children: Edna (Aaron) Hoover of Colby, WI, Raymond (Emma Shirk) Martin of Narvon, Alda (Paul) Brubaker of Curtiss, WI, LeRoy Martin of Morgantown, Aaron (Louella Martin) Martin of Narvon, Samuel (Lydia Zimmerman) Martin of Thorp, WI, Harry (Arlene Zimmerman) Martin of Narvon, Martha (Mark) Newswanger of Narvon, and Mabel (Daniel) Newswanger of East Earl; 62 grandchildren; 86 great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Earl (Anna Martin) Brubaker of Thorp, WI.
Preceding him in death is a daughter, Esther Brubaker; two great-granddaughters, Leah Grace Hoover, and Minerva Hoover; five brothers, Henry, David, John, Eli, and Samuel; and two sisters, Annie Hurst, and Lydia Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 18 at 9 AM at the home of Raymond Martin, 200 Shirktown Road, Narvon, with further services at 9:30 AM at Churchtown Mennonite Church with the Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Aaron K. Martin, 104, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at Lincoln Christian Home, where he lived since November 2016.
Aaron was born in the Martindale area, the son of the late Clayton C. and Lizzie H. (Kurtz) Martin. He married Susan (Eby) Martin on July 4, 1937. She preceded him in death in 2001.
He was a farmer and lived in most of his adult life in Clay Township. He was a member of Springville Mennonite Church. He was appointed by the church to assist young men relating to Selective Service during the draft in the 50's and 60's.
Aaron is survived by three daughters: Ruth E., wife of Lester Weber of Atmore, AL, Marian E., wife of Alvin Martin of Lebanon, Velma E., wife of Amos Smucker of Leola; four sons: Clarence E., husband of Ruth (Weaver) Martin of Stevens, Mervin E., husband of Kathryn (Nolt) Martin of Elizabethtown, Raymond E., husband of Vera (Nolt) Martin of Stevens, Aaron E., husband of Vera (Nolt) Martin of Ephrata; two daughters-in-law, Rachel C. (Mitchell) Martin of Stevens, Ivy Jo (Good) Martin of Ephrata; two sisters, Mary Witmer of Richland, Nora High of Honey Grove; a brother, John K. Martin of Mennonite Home; 38 grandchildren; 174 great-grandchildren and 50 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, John E. in 1984, Paul E. in 1993; a sister, Edna K. Martin; four brothers, Harvey K., Ellis K., Ammon K., Allen K. Martin and four grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Lincoln Christian Home for the kind and compassionate care shown to our father the past 3+ years. It is much appreciated.

Alice L. Martin, 95, of Goshen died Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Goshen Hospital.
She was born April 10, 1925 in Hubbard, Oregon to Chauncey and Lomie (Detweiler) Kropf.
On November 3, 1946 she married Roy Martin in Hubbard, Oregon. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by six children, Darlene Dintaman of Goshen, Maxine (Joe Fretz) Martin of Lakewood, Colorado, Marilyn (Jay) Shetler of Phoenix, Arizona, Marjorie (Barry) Weaver of Bloomington, Illinois, Ronald (Joy) Martin of Minot, North Dakota and Galen (Karyn Angell) Martin of Eugene, Oregon; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma Kauffman; three brothers, Floyd, Ellis and Lester Kropf; and a son-in-law, Carl Dintaman.
Alice was a member of Waterford Mennonite Church in Goshen. Her years of employment included cooking in a school cafeteria and clerical work at Mennonite Mutual Aid, now known as Everence.
A transplant from Oregon at age 16, Alice’s heart found its true home on the North Dakota prairie. In her quiet way, Alice’s hospitality spoke volumes. She and Roy had an open door for friends and strangers alike. Delicious meals often ended with her “legendary” pies, which had the power to convert dessert nonbelievers. The gardens she planted provided for the family, and she preserved the bounty in quart jars that transformed the “fruit room” into a colorful work of art. An excellent seamstress, she pieced hundreds of comforter tops for her family and Mennonite Central Committee.
Alice and Roy loved to travel and stay connected to their scattered family and friends. Their love for these folks was generous and unwavering. She was a loyal friend, making regular phone calls to folks from all decades of her life. She was a keeper of the memories—stories and genealogy could keep conversations going late into the night.
She lives on in the lessons she taught us – always extend hospitality, give love, being passive-aggressive never goes out of style, sing while you work, and never be afraid to laugh until you cry.
Due to the Covid pandemic, an online memorial service is planned.
Cremation will take place with burial in Fairview Cemetery, Surrey, North Dakota at a later date.

Alta B. Martin, 89, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Fairmount Homes Inc.
She was born in Martindale to the late Frank and Lydia (Burkholder) Hurst and was the wife of Stanley Martin with whom she shared 68 years of marriage.
She was a member of Dove Westgate Church, Ephrata, She was a seamstress for Sight and Sound Studios for 18 years and was a volunteer marriage counselor with her husband, Stanley, for Abundant Living Ministries.
In addition to her husband, Alta was survived by four sons: Philip L., husband of Doris (Breckbill) Martin of Lititz, Dale, husband of Jaqueline (Gerhart) Martin of Ephrata, Jay S., husband of Gloria (Wenger) Martin of Clay, and Steven, husband of Carolyn (Gerlach) Martin of Lititz; four daughters: Pamela, wife of Kenneth Ebersole of Beverly, MA, Rose Martin of Lancaster, Judy, wife of Leslie Groff of Ephrata, and Audrey, wife of Barry Miller of Ephrata; twenty-five grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul, husband of Anna Mary Hurst of Martindale; a sister, Lydia Hoover of Womelsdorf; and a half-brother, Ivan, husband of Mary Hurst of Ephrata, PA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Noah and Frank Hurst; sisters, Emma Horning, Katie Horning, Esther Martin, and Mary Martin.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. A later memorial service will be scheduled at the convenience of the family.

Amos S. Martin, 82, of rural Turbotville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in East Earl, Lancaster County on Sept. 28, 1937, he was a son of the late Pheris and Sarah (Zimmerman) Martin.
Surviving are his wife, Florence L. Martin; children, Stephen, Anna Frances, Louis, Jason, all at home, Mary Ann married to Henry Martin, of East Earl, Edith married to Stanley Martin, of Watsontown, Beatrice married to Lester Martin, of Milton, Kathryn married to Mervin Hoover, of Milton, David married to Luella (Reiff) Martin, of Milton, and Michael married to Louella (Martin) Martin; 38 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Paul (Anna Hoover) Martin, of East Earl, Sarah (Rufus) Hoover, of New Holland, Anna (David) Hoover, of New Holland, Lizzie (Rufus) Nolt, of Fortuna, Mo., Aaron (Lizzie Hoover) Martin, of Denver, Harvey (Lena Hoover) Martin, of Denver, and Luke (Elva Hoover) Martin, of Leitchfield, Ky.
Preceding him in death besides her parents was a granddaughter, Regina; two sisters, Lydia and Mary; and six brothers, John, Ivan, Phares, Christian, Rufus, and Clarence.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 665 Clemens Road, Milton, where the funeral service will begin at noon Thursday, Aug. 6, and then proceed to Limestone Mennonite Church, 281 Laidacker Road, Milton, where a funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. with Bishop John M. Reiff officiating.
Burial will follow in Limestone Mennonite Cemetery, rural Milton.

Amos Z. Martin, 89, of 146 Ranks Church Rd., New Holland died Saturday, May 30, 2020 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital following a brief illness. His wife, Esther M. (Newswanger) Martin, survives.
Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Ivan S. and Magdalena Z. (Zimmerman) Martin.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Born in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Phares Z. and Martha Hoover Martin.
Anna was a member of the Reidenbach Mennonite Church.
Surviving are five brothers, George husband of Esther Martin of Ephrata, Samuel husband of Ella Martin of Leitchfield, KY, Andrew husband of Kathryn Martin of Elkton, KY, Jerry husband of Verna Martin of New Holland, and Phares husband of Lucy Martin of New Holland; five sisters, Grace wife of the late Amos Hoover of East Earl, Frances wife of Allen Hoover of Leitchfield, KY, Susan wife of Paul Hoover of Ephrata, Martha wife of Aaron Hoover of IN, and Janet wife of John Martin, with whom she resided. She was preceded in death by brothers Warren and Wayne Martin.

Anna M. Martin, 84, of Cocalico Christian Home, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 7, 2020, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Z. Martin on November 6, 2002.
She was a homemaker who put others before herself and had an especially soft spot in her heart for the less fortunate, and a member at Martindale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Born in Earl Township, she was the daughter of the late George M. and Lydia Z. (Martin) Weaver. She was married 47 years on July 2 to Daniel Z. Martin when he died.
Surviving are 5 daughters, Erla Mae, married to Eugene G. Burkholder of Ewing, IL, Jane W., married to Roy H. Weaver of Lebanon, Lydia Ann, married to F. Scott Martin of Barnette, MO, Betty, married to David W. Weaver of Mt. Pleasant Mills, and Linda, married to Mark E. Oberholtzer of Honey Grove; 2 sons, Larry W., married to Susan J. (Weaver) Martin of Romulus, NY, and Jay Daniel, married to K. Michelle (Slabaugh) Martin of Elizabethville; 42 grandchildren; and 126 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 4 brothers, Martin, married to Rachael (Zimmerman) Weaver, George, married to Joanne (Bomberger) Weaver, Mervin, married to Lucinda G. (Stauffer) Weaver, and Clarence, married to Arlene (Martin) Weaver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George M. and Lydia Z. (Martin) Weaver; 2 brothers, Lester M. and Raymond M. Weaver; 2 sisters, Irene M. and Esther M.; and 1 stillborn grandchild, Christopher Shawn Burkholder.

Anna Mae Martin, 81, formerly of Terre Hill, a resident of Fairmount Homes, passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Laban H. Martin who died in 2018. Born in West Caln Twp., Chester County, she was the daughter of the late Christ and Emma Sweigart Yoder.
Anna Mae was a homemaker and a member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church. She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting and sewing.
Surviving are two daughters, Anita wife of Dennis Gettel of Denver, and Donna wife of Kevin Gerber of Lititz; a son, Brian husband of Gretchen Martin of Bowmansville; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Kathryn Clark of Parkesburg, and Irma Holmes of Peach Bottom. She was preceded in death by brothers, Raymond, Kenneth and Allan Yoder.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 17, at 2:00 P.M. at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Highway, Ephrata, PA. The family will greet friends following the service. Anna Mary Martin, 79, of rural Memphis, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020, at her residence with her family near.
She was born on July 18, 1941, in Akron, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Isaac N. and Lydia Stauffer Weaver.
Anna Mary and Lloyd were united in marriage on December 16, 1961, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They shared fifty-eight years together. To this union twelve children were born.
In February, 1974, they moved to northeast Missouri to farm and raise their children. They were members of the Indian Creek Mennonite Church.
She enjoyed gardening, flowers, and caring for her family. In later years she was a midwife and also helped many elderly people.
She is survived by her husband, Lloyd L. Martin of the home; children, Debra and Nevin Weiler of Rutledge, Missouri, Sharon and Willard Zimmerman of Fortuna, Missouri, Tony Martin of Memphis, Missouri, Darla and Amos Zimmerman of Cantril, Iowa, Carol and Glenn Ivan Zeiset of Greentop, Missouri, Faye Elaine and Shannon Weiler of Memphis, Missouri, Lorene and Clair Weiler of Edina, Missouri, Loren and Erma Martin of Baring, Missouri, Janell and Calvin Hoover of Rutledge, Missouri, Daryl and Ruth Elaine Martin of Memphis, Missouri, and Gayla and LeAllen Ramer of Gorin, Missouri; siblings, Elmer S. Anna S. Martin, 80, of Ephrata, passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital unexpectedly of natural causes.
Born in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, she was the daughter of the late Aaron A. and Rebecca (Sensenig) Brubacker. She was the only surviving sibling of her family. She was the wife of Clarence W. Martin for 58 years.
She was a member of Weaver Pike Mennonite Church.
Anna was a homemaker.
In addition to her husband, Anna is survived by a son, Walter B. husband of Sarah (Hoover) Martin of Penn Yan, NY; seven daughters, Frances, Esther, Norma, Arlene and Grace Martin, all of Ephrata, Laura, wife of Frank Hoover, Martha, wife of Reuben Newswanger, both of New Holland and a daughter-in-law, Linda Martin of Lititz. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Mary Brubacker and Lena Brubacker, both of Snyder County, Ida Ann Brubacker of Ephrata; 19 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Leonard Martin; two infant daughters, Mary and Bertha Martin; a grandson; two sisters, Martha S. Martin and Katie (Sensenig) Gehman and nine brothers, Harvey S., Leroy S., Amon S., Amos S., Titus S., Phares S., Luke S., Rufus S. and Aaron S. Brubacker.

Martin, 504 Gristmill Road, Ephrata, Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at 1:30PM at the residence of Clarence W. Martin with further services at 2:00 PM from the Weaver Pike Mennonite Church, 28th Division Highway, Earl Township, with Bishop Joseph S. Weaver officiating. Interment will take place in the adjoining cemetery.

Annetta B. Martin, age 70, of Latham, Missouri, passed away, Monday, January 20, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. She was born February 28, 1949 in Narvon, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Christian Z. and Elizabeth B. (Brubacher) Kilmer.
On November 27, 1969, she was married to Roy M. Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Roy M. Martin; seven children, Elizabeth (Elam) Martin, John (Cheryl) Martin, Mary Shirk, Martha Martin, Katie (Ivan) Sloan, Wesley (Kristi) Martin and Lee (Joyce) Martin; twenty grandchildren; one great-grandchild; siblings, Katie (Menno) Ramer, Emma Martin, Florence Nolt, Cora Kilmer, Ada (Phares) Zimmerman, Leora (Abner) Oberholtzer, Barbara (Walter) Zimmerman, Betty (Eli) Shirk, Bertha (Sam) Shirk, Aaron Kilmer and Esther (Aaron) Shirk and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Christian and Elizabeth Kilmer; a son, Christian Martin; a son-in-law, Evan Shirk; two brothers; two sisters; two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Monday, January 27, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church, Latham, Missouri. Officiating ministers include Luke Fox, Marlin Kilmer, Nelson Hoover, Carl Hoover and Michael Martin. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Community Center.

Barbara Kilmer Martin, 97, of 380 Spring Grove Rd., East Earl, died on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at her home.
She was born June 5, 1923, the youngest child of the late Henry and Matilda (Kilmer) Martin in Brutus, Emmett County, Michigan. She moved to PA with her family in 1939, living in Pennytown, then Goodville, then moving to East Earl in 2013. She worked at various sewing factories and cleaned homes. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, visitors, and visiting.
She was a member of Groffdale Conference Old Order Mennonite Church.
She was predeceased by 2 brothers and 3 sisters: Levi Martin, Lydiann Martin, Harvey Martin, Lena (Martin) Wenger and Leah Martin. She is survived by a sister-in-law Alma (Harvey) Martin, Lancaster, nieces and nephews and extended family friends Esther Weaver and Suzanna Martin, with whom she lived.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 at 9 a.m. at her late home with further services at 9:30 a.m. at Spring Grove Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Thursday from 5 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers. Betty Jean Martin, 86, of Goshen, died Friday, May 1, 2020, at home after a short illness. She was born April 19, 1934, in Millersburg, Ohio to Ray and Erma (Gardner) Mast. On July 12, 1952, she married Ralph D. Martin in Berlin, Ohio.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Mast and sister, Mary Ellen Martin. Husband Ralph died in September 2017. She was also preceded in death by in-laws Alice Martin and Grace Martin, Orrville, Ohio; Velma (Stan) Sauder, Souderton, Pennsylvania; and Carolyn (Sanford) Swartzendruber, Goshen, Indiana.
Survivors include four children, Steven (Lucie) Martin of Middlebury; Jeffrey (Karen) Martin of Fairview Park, Ohio; and Beth (David) Birky and Kirk D. Martin, both of Goshen; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth (Jim) Oswald of Orfville, Ohio. She is also survived by brother-in-law, P. Wesley (Mary Ellen) Martin of Orrville, Ohio; sister-in-law Lois (Denny) Zimmerly of Sterling, Ohio; and brother-in-law Sanford (Carolyn) Swartzendruber of Goshen, Indiana, along with many nieces and nephews, their partners, children, and even grandchildren, who will remember “Grandma Betty.”
A longtime Orrville, Ohio, resident, Betty worked as an administrative assistant at Mennonite Mutual Insurance, Central Christian High School, and Ohio Mennonite Conference. She and Ralph were active members of Orrville Mennonite Church. In 1998 they moved to Goshen, Indiana, where they became members of Waterford Mennonite Church. Betty provided childcare for her three youngest grandchildren before working for Compassionate Caregivers.
A private graveside service will be held at Violett Cemetery, Goshen.

Martin, Carl E.
July 15, 1936 - March 15, 2020
Carl E. Martin, 83, of New Holland, went home peacefully to be with his Savior on Sunday, March 15, 2020 following complications of pneumonia.
Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Harvey and Margaret (Esbenshade) Martin. He was married 62 years to Arlene (Snader) Martin.
Carl lived in Atlanta, GA for 36 years before moving back to New Holland in 1995. While in Atlanta he worked at Grady Memorial Hospital for 35 years and also served 17 years as associate pastor of Berea Mennonite Church. After moving back to New Holland he worked 20 years at Dutchway Farm Market in Gap where he built relationships with many customers and knew most of them by name.
Carl was an active member of Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community where he served as a Sunday School teacher and spiritual mentor to many in the congregation. He was also involved in service with Eastern Mennonite Missions.
Carl loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He also loved his Lord and reflected the love of Jesus to everyone he met.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Carlene, married to Jeff Petersen of Atglen, Sharon, married to Steve Martin of New Holland, and Cathy Martin engaged to Turner Knapp of Atlanta, GA; 4 grandchildren, Lauren, married to Shawn Pettis, Kate Martin, Sara Martin, and Scott Petersen; and a brother, Elmer, married to Grace Martin of Ephrata. Preceding him in death is a sister, Alice Martin and brother, LeRoy Martin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Garden Spot Village Fallcrest for their compassionate care given to Carl.

Clayton S. Martin, 97, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 1307 Apple Street, Ephrata.
He was born in East Earl Township, Lancaster County, to the late John Z. and Magdalena (Sauder) Martin and was the husband of Rachel R. (Stauffer) Martin who passed away in 2015.
He was a member of Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, (Weaverland Conference).
Clayton was a building contractor.
Clayton is survived by three sons, Curvin, husband of Grace (High) Martin of Ephrata, Gerald, husband of Mabel (Hoover) Martin of Reading, Brian, husband of Mary Jane (Hursh) Martin of Lititz; four daughters, Minerva, wife of Earl Brubaker of Loysville, Ruth Naomi, wife of Mervin Martin of Lititz, Barbara Ellen, wife of Melvin Martin of Ephrata, Mildred, wife of Ivan Zimmerman of Ephrata; 34 grandchildren; 153 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Vera Martin.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Christian, Amos, Elias, John, David and Samuel; four sisters, Anna, Elizabeth, Mary, and Esther; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

Earla R. Martin, 78, of Robesonia, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2020, at home after a battle with cancer.
She was born in Ephrata to the late Clayton M. and Magdelena (Rutt) Burkholder. She is the wife of Earl M. Martin, son of the late Elmer J. and Verna (Musser) Martin.
She was a member of Pleasant Valley Mennonite (Mid-Atlantic Conference).
Earla was a homemaker.

October 14th, 1929 – February 28th, 2020
Edgar was born on October 14, 1929 to the late Jonas Z. and Mariah (Horst) Martin. He was the husband of Helen June (Metzler) Martin with whom he shared 69 years of marriage as of February 24, 2020.
Edgar was an active member of the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, Ephrata. He was owner of Edgar Martin Electric Service in Ephrata for 60 years.
Edgar enjoyed volunteering. He served many years with Mennonite Disaster Service either on the job site or sending hundreds of men to jobs. He also enjoyed helping Samaritans Purse, Boone, NC process Christmas Child Shoe boxes for shipping. His hobbies were collecting coins and rocks, traveling with the 40/60 Group and spending time with family.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Helen June, are 5 children: Margaret (James) Slabach of Alliance, OH, Marlin M. (Nora Jane) Martin of Lititz, Rachel M. Martin of Lititz, Galen M. (Debra) Martin of Columbus, OH, and Rita J. (Kenneth) Martin of Ephrata; 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; a brother, Elmer H. (Elsie) Martin of Lampeter; and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Martin of Ephrata.
Preceding him in death are three brothers, Abel, Nathan, and Laban Martin.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial service at the Hinkletown Mennonite Church, 2031 Division Highway, Ephrata on Monday, March 9 at 10:30AM. A musical prelude will begin at 10:15AM. Interment will be private at the Hinkletown Mennonite Cemetery.

Edith Horst Martin of 11641 State Hwy. 15, Memphis, Missouri, 63537, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2020, at her residence north of Memphis.
She was born on June 18, 1952, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania the daughter of David W. and Edna B. Martin.
On May 20, 1972, at Mt. Etna, Pennsylvania, Edith married Curvin Martin and they moved to Missouri on March 1, 1977. They were blessed with 48 years together.
Mom will be remembered as a very caring person with a big heart for hurting people, especially for the youth. She was also well known for visiting the nursing home.
Edith was a member of the Meadow View Mennonite Church, north of Memphis, Missouri.

Edith Mae Martin, age 86, Goshen, died at 6:40 pm, Friday, November 13, 2020 at her residence after a short illness. She was born December 31, 1933 in Foraker to John and Esther (Bauman) Zimmerman.
Edith accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized in the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church in her youth and remained a faithful member until death. She lived her lifetime in this area, and married Charles Edward Martin September 4, 1955 in Elkhart County. He preceded her in death June 29, 1992. Edith was a homemaker and a loving mother.

Eli S. Martin, 93, of 742 Twin Hill Road, New Holland, died Saturday, June 13, 2020, at his home.
Born at his home in Caernarvon Twp., he was the son of the late John N. and Mary Ellen (Sauder) Martin. His wife of 67 years, Mary B. (Hoover) Martin, died March 23, 2017.
Eli was a retired farmer and carpenter, and a member of the Martindale Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
He is survived by 9 children, Etta Martin of New Holland, Lydia, married to Raymond Shirk of Ephrata, John, married to Verna (Wenger) Martin of Dundee, NY, Sara, married to Melvin Sauder of Latham, MO, Rachel, married to Raymond Hoover, and Ellen, married to Titus Shirk, both of Dundee, NY, and Ruth Martin, Lucinda Martin, and Lucy married to Nathan Nolt, all of New Holland; a daughter-in-law, Vera Martin of Dundee, NY; 64 grandchildren; 125 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Aaron, married to Martha Martin of Narvon.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Ivan and Joseph Martin; a great-grandson, Jeremiah Zimmerman; four brothers, Henry, David, John, and Samuel Martin; and two sisters, Annie Hurst and Lydia Martin.

Reading - Elizabeth Z. Sensenig Martin, 82, of Bethel, passed away on Monday December 21, 2020 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of the late Adam H. Martin. She was born in East Earl, PA on April 2, 1938 a daughter of the late Elam and Elizabeth Zimmerman Sensenig. She was a member of the Bethel Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.
She is survived by children: Norma S. wife of J. Elmer E. Martin, 87, of Ephrata, formerly of Blue Ball, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Fairmount Homes.
Born in New Holland, he was a son of the late Harvey H. and Margaret (Esbenshade) Martin. He was married 65 years on Oct. 30 to Grace R. (Weaver) Martin.
Elmer retired in 1992 after working 35 years for Enterprise Telephone, now Frontier, as outside plant supervisor. After retirement he was employed part time by Groff-High-Eckenroth Funeral Home, Choice Books, Goods Potato Chips, and Martin's Trailside Express.
Elmer was a member of the Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community where he served as Deacon for 35 years. He enjoyed humor, music, hymns and gospel music, golf, and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Clair, married to Sandy (Leaman) Martin of Narvon, Sylvia, married to Sheldon Swartzentruber of Greenwood, DE, and Fred, married to Marilyn (King) Martin of New Holland; 7 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family. Preceding him in death are three siblings, Leroy E. Martin, Carl E. Martin, and Alice E. Martin.

Elsie M. Martin, 101, of New Holland, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Garden Spot Village. Her husband preceded her in 2006. Born in Kinzers, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Brackbill) Groff. After their marriage in 1940, she and Earl lived near Leola and later moved to New Holland.
Elsie was a member of the Stumptown Mennonite Church where she was active in the sewing circle. Elsie was a homemaker and enjoyed children. Her home was a welcoming place for many, including Fresh Air children and a foster son, Hosby Talford. She liked gardening, flowers, and embroidery.
Surviving are six children, Barbara (Wilmer Good) of Lititz, Thelma (Isaac Thomas) of Lancaster, Lois (David Greene) of Lancaster, Doris (David Moyer) of Mt. Solon, VA, Robert Martin (Lois Moyers), Ruth (Jay Carpenter) of Lancaster; sixteen grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; seven great-great- grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Evelyn M. Martin of Lititz.
Elsie was preceded in death by nine siblings, Barbara Graham, Elizabeth Groff, Clarence Groff, Roy Groff, Anna Hess, Elva Lehman, Esther Groff, John Groff and Miriam Gehman.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2831 Stumptown Road, Bird-in-Hand with a visitation an hour prior to the service (2-3:00 pm). A private burial was held at the Old Weaverland Mennonite Cemetery.

Elsie Z. Martin, 84, of 798 Hopeland Rd., Lititz, died Thursday, July 30, 2020 at her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Weaver H. Martin, Jr. in 2011.
Born in Churchtown, she was the daughter of the late John N. and Susanna E. (Zimmerman) Sauder.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hopeland Mennonite Church.
Surviving are three children: James S. Martin, Lititz, Darlene S. married to Daryl Weaver, Myerstown and Dale S. married to Elsa Mae (Rutt) Martin, New Holland, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four sisters: Verna Z. married to Lewis Hoover, Lewisburg, Anna Mae married to Isaac Shirk, Narvon, Lydia Ann married to Irvin Zimmerman, New Holland, Martha Z. married to David Weaver, Pembroke, KY.
She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jolene Weaver.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. at Springville Mennonite Church with Bishop Melvin H. Martin, Elam Ray Martin, Jay Martin, and Wilmer Martin officiating. Emma H. Martin, 92, of Ephrata, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at Lincoln Christian Home.
She was born in West Earl Township to the late Titus B. and Emaline (Hoover) Martin.
She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Emma was a kitchen manager for Landis Homes before retiring and later worked of Martin's Pretzels in Akron. She spent the last eight years living at Lincoln Christian Home where she received wonderful care.
Emma is survived by a brother, Paul H., husband of Anna Mae Martin of Manheim; two sisters, Ida Wenger, Etta Martin, both of Ephrata; 41 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Titus and Henry Martin and three sisters, Ruth, Esther and Anna Martin.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, October 18, 2020, from 5 to 8 PM at the Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, 90 Groffdale Road, Leola. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020, at 2:00 PM at the Groffdale Frame Mennonite Church, with Bishop Curvin Zimmerman officiating. Erla S. Martin, 85, of Ephrata, died Sunday, July 5, 2020 in Ephrata, after a prolonged illness.
Born in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late Martin S. and Alice (Stauffer) Bauman.
Erla was a homemaker and Amway Distributor, and a member of South Hinkletown Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving are four children, Glenn B.(Carolyn Nolt) Martin of Ephrata, Richard B. (Lydia Oberholtzer) Martin of Newmanstown, Lorraine B. (Luke Oberholtzer) of Stevens, and Marlene B. (Leonard Rutt) of Ephrata; 15 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and 13 siblings, brothers, Clarence S. Bauman of Arizona, Ray (Lydia) Bauman of Terre Hill, Paul (Virginia) Bauman of Denver, Harold (Jeannette) Bauman of Stevens, Titus (Ruth) Bauman of Mexico; sisters, Nora Busser of Stevens, Arlene (Harvey) Zimmerman of Missouri, Joyce Good of Denver and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Mahlon H. Martin and a son, Mahlon, Jr. and sisters, Mae Reich, Lila Zimmerman, Kathryn Zimmerman, Pauline Long, and Mildred Martin.

Erma F. Martin, 98, of Akron, PA and formerly of Ephrata, PA, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron, PA.
Erma was a daughter of the late Roger H. and Minnie (Herrold) Shafer and wife of the late Paul S. Martin, who passed away January 16, 2001.
Born in Port Trevorton, Snyder County, PA, Erma had been a resident of the Ephrata area since 1940. She was a member of the Akron Church of the Brethren and had been a sewing factory worker for 26 years and a homemaker.
She is survived by a daughter, Bernice Ruff (Rev. Jerry Ruff) of Bridgewater, VA; three sons, Ronald D. Martin (Carol) of Sicklerville, NJ, Ray C. Martin (Gale) of Ephrata, PA, and Jay R. Martin (Debra) of Ephrata, PA; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Oran A. Shafer of Duncannon, PA.
In addition to her husband and parents, Erma was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Mantyla, a son, Kenneth, a sister, Mildred Brubaker, and a brother, Lamar Shafer.

She was a member of Stauffer Mennonite Church.
Erma was a homemaker.

September 6, 1953 - July 2, 2020
Denver - Eugene K. Martin, 66, of Denver, passed away from this life to his eternal home to be forever with his Lord and Savior on July 2, 2020, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lebanon. He was the loving husband of Linda S. (Martin) Martin with whom he shared 45 years of marriage.
Born in Schoeneck, he was a son of the late Daniel B. and Esther B. (Kurtz) Martin.
Gene as a young man was employed at Dutchland Labs after marriage was a self-employed farmer and a partner in Middle Creek Hog Farms. In 1983, he founded Blue Lake Builders which continues in business to this day. Along with a partner, he purchased Reinholds Lumber and Millwork in 1989. He enjoyed farming with his five sons, growing corn, beef, dairy, and poultry. He was also a custom cattle buyer for many local farmers in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties. In the latter years of his life, he purchased Burkholder Fabric store which he enjoyed greatly, buying and selling fabric to many customers far and wide. Gene also sponsored softball and hockey teams, of which he enjoyed attending the games and cheering them on.
He was a member of Faith Mennonite Fellowship, Stevens, where he enjoyed teaching Sunday School and being the candy man. He had a big heart for missions and for helping young men and boys who needed a father figure in their lives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are seven children, Daniel (Lori) Martin of Denver, Matthew (Heather) of Denver, Stephen (Jody) Martin of Schaefferstown, Joshua (Kelly) Martin of Denver, Benjamin (Jessica) Martin of Denver, Bethany (Judah) Clapper of Manheim, Charity (Lane) Rutt of Ephrata; 34 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, of whom was his pride and joy. He is also survived by seven siblings, Mary Kathryn (the late David) Hurst of Lewisburg, Arlene (Sam) Zimmerman of Fleetwood, Ivan (Ruthie) Martin of Denver and Martha (David) Horst of Newburg.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were three brothers, Lester K. Martin, John K. (husband of Louise) Martin, Melvin K. (husband of Janet) Martin and a nephew, Greg Zimmerman.
There will be a public viewing on Wednesday, July 8, 2020, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM with the family social distancing at Blue Lake Shop, 2000 West Route 897, Denver. There will be a private burial and graveside service at the cemetery located on the home farm.

Frances “Darlene” Martin, 94, of Goshen passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa.
She was born April 23, 1925 in Goshen to Simon and Fannie (Miller) Frey.
On December 5, 1943 she married Titus L. Martin in Goshen. They were married 67 years before his death July 12, 2011.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy (Donald) Detweiler of Goshen; a son, Terry (Kathleen) Martin of Knoxville, Tennessee; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Sue Colagrassi and Mamie Bontrager; and brothers, Owen, Eddie, Irvin, Harley and Vernon Frey.
Darlene was a loving homemaker and charter member of East Goshen Mennonite Church.

Gerald G. Martin, 3 years old, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020.
He was the son of Elmo and Verna Martin of Blain, Pennsylvania. Gerald was a special needs child under the care of a doctor.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers and one sister: Raymond, Wesley, and Miriam; his maternal grandparents: John and Linda Good of East Earl, PA; his paternal grandparents: Robert and Miriam Martin of Blain, PA; his great grandparents: John and Verna Martin of Denver, PA and Warren and Anna Martin of Reinholds, PA; and many uncles and aunts and cousins.

Glenn I. Martin Jr., age 67, of Mercersburg, PA , went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday evening March 10, 2020 in the Hershey Medical Center. Born April 18, 1952 in Waynesboro, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn Sr. and Martha (Horst) Martin. He married his wife Debra L. (Dietle) Martin on September 1, 1973.
Glenn was the owner of Martin Millwork Inc. of Mercersburg. He formerly worked at Sam Horst Cabinets, Foremost Industries and Mercersburg Builders.
He was a member of the Mercersburg Mennonite Church. Glenn was a member of the Gideons Southwest Camp, member and former President of the Mercersburg Chamber of Commerce and served on the Cove Valley Camp board. He supported the work of the Habitat for Humanity of Franklin County and was former president of the PTO in the elementary school in Mercersburg. He was a 1970 graduate of James Buchanan High School.
Surviving family are four daughters April Lehman and husband Eric of Greencastle, Anya McMillen and husband Ryan of Pittsburgh, PA, Amelia Mukherjee and husband Neil of Bloomfield, NJ, Aileen Jaynes and husband Stephen of Waynesboro, PA; three brothers, Titus Martin of Amberson, PA, Marcus Martin and Chester Martin both of Mercersburg; five sisters, Hannah Mast of Bladensburg, MD, Julia Wiebe of Glendale AZ, Sylvia Hykes of Chambersburg, Mariann Martin of Mercersburg, Patricia Hege of Greencastle and ten grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Harry was a member of Fairhaven Mennonite Church, Myerstown, where he served as Deacon. He was a self-employed dairy farmer.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by four sons, Clifford G., husband of Marian Jane Martin of Ephrata, Jay A., husband of Lucy Martin of Ripley, NY, H. Gerald, husband of Lois Ann Martin of Denver, Wilfred G., husband of Joanne Martin of Ephrata; two daughters, Cynthia A., wife of David Weber of Robesonia, Shirley M., wife of David Miller of Lafayette, OR; 30 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Raymond B., husband of Esther Martin of Ephrata, and James W., husband of Bonnie Martin of Palmyra.

Harry M. Martin, Jr., 94, formerly of New Holland, died Monday, May 18, 2020 at Lincoln Christian Home. His wife, Louella H. (Nolt) Martin, survives. Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Harry Z. and Anna (Myers) Martin.
Harry was a retired farmer and had also worked at Martin Limestone for 30 years. He was a member of Weaverland Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to his wife are five children: Eugene Z. married to Cheryl (Hirst) Martin, New Holland, Joyce Z. married to Freeland Sensenig, Denver, Leon Z. Martin, North Port, FL, Anna Frances married to Darrell E. Martin, East Earl, Glenn Z. married to Charlotte (Blank) Martin, New Holland, 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emma M. (Zimmerman) Martin in 1995 and three siblings: Anna Mary Zimmerman, Esther Zimmerman, and Weaver H. Martin.

Jesse Lavon Martin, son of Russell E. and Trina D. (Shaum) Martin, was born on Nov. 23, 2016 in Fulton County, Indiana. He departed this life peacefully in his mother’s arms following a sudden illness after liver transplant on Feb. 26, 2020 at the age of 3 years, 3 months, and 3 days.
Surviving besides his parents are one sister Luana Ruth (6), brothers Josiah Lyn (4) and Andrius Joel (11 1/2 Months); his paternal grandparents Elias Jr. and Judith Martin of Goshen and maternal grandparents Marlin and Jane Shaum of Akron; great grandparents Elias and Ida Martin of Goshen, Elvin and Naomi Martin of Nappanee, Wilma Shaum of Goshen, and Mable Martin of Goshen; 11 uncles, 3 aunts, and 4 cousins.
Jesse was preceded in death by his uncle Daniel Shaum and great grandfathers Dana Shaum and Dale Martin.
The family deeply mourns the loss of their little son, but are resigned to the will of the One who knoweth all things.
Prayer service will take place at 8:30 am, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Pine Grove School 12745 W. 800 S. Rochester, Indiana 46975.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 in the Yellow Creek Wisler Mennonite Church 25012 County Road 38 Goshen, Indiana 46526 with home ministry officiating. The internment will follow in the Yellow Creek Wisler Cemetery.

Jesse Z. Martin, age 72 years, 6 months and 24 days, of the Town of Hixon passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at his residence.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Longwood Mennonite Church in the Town of Longwood. His final resting place will be at the church cemetery. Marvin Leid, Edwin Nolt, Andrew Brubacher, Larry Zimmerman and Elvin Fox will officiate. Jesse was born on August 8, 1947 in Lancaster County, PA, the son of Paul B. and Emma H. (Zimmerman) Martin. He was united in marriage to Laura N. Martin on October 8, 1970 in Pennsylvania.
Jesse lived in Lancaster County, PA before moving to Owen in April of 1975, where he farmed until 2002, and then he moved to Withee and worked for AB Coach.
Jesse is survived by his children: Linda (Elvin) Leid, Elton (Elva) Martin, Esther (Alvin) Nolt, Emma (Paul) Martin, Rosann Martin, Ruth (Marlin) Snyder, Laura Martin, Erla Martin, John (Jennifer) Martin, Paul (Sheralyn) Martin, Mary Martin and Jesse Martin Jr.; and 34 grandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers: John Dan Martin, Eli (Ada) Martin and Reuben (Esther) Martin and two sisters: Laura Martin and Emma Martin and two sisters-in-law, Ida Martin and Edna Martin.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Laura N. Martin, two infant grandsons, brothers: Noah Martin, Edward Martin and Jay Paul Martin and sisters: Esther Martin and Mary Martin.

John B. Martin, 83, of Liverpool entered into rest on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Evangelical Community Hospital. He died of pneumonia. Born on September 11, 1937, in West Earl Township, Lancaster Co., He was the son of the late Luke A. and Elizabeth (Burbaker) Martin.
On May 3, 1969 he married Esther S. Stauffer, who survives. His passing breaks a marital union of 51 years. John was first married to Marie S. Horst who preceded him in death on September 21, 1967.
He was employed at Andes Greenhouse in Ephrata, PA for 17 years. He was the owner of Martin's Greenhouse and owned and operated Martin General Builders with his sons. He was a member of Riverview Old Order Mennonite Church, Snyder County Conference.
Surviving besides his wife are 5 sons and 6 daughters, and their spouses, Karen and Roy Brubacker of Mt. Pleasant Mills, Earl and Bettyann Martin of Port Trevorton, Harlan and Rosemary Martin of Leonard, MN., Diann and Luther Stauffer of Vandalia, IL, Stephen and Bethe Martin of Liverpool, John Wayne and Lorene Martin of Vandalia, IL, Joseph and Ruth Martin of Liverpool, Lillian Martin of Liverpool, Beth and David Brubaker of Port Trevorton, Kaylene Martin of Liverpool, Gloria and Wayne Auker of Port Trevorton, 65 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Eugene and Rachel Martin, Luke and Rebecca Martin, Elam and Alice Martin, and one sister, Mary Martin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Ella Martin, Vera Martin, and 7 brothers, and 1 sister in infancy, 5 grandchildren.

Robesonia - Julia M. Martin, 50 of Robesonia, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2020 at home after a 15 month battle with brain cancer. She was born in Ephrata on February 18, 1970, a daughter of Elvin M. Hursh, Lititz and the late Mary Elizabeth (Martin) Hursh. Surviving is her step mother Marian (Martin) Hursh, Lititz.
Julia was the loving wife of Nelson R. Martin. Mrs. Martin was a member of Martins Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.

Kristine H. Martin, age 21 years, 5 months and 13 days, of Fort Worth, TX, formerly of the Town of Hixon, passed away from a drowning accident on Sunday, June 7, 2020.

April 29, 1947 - May 11, 2020
Larry L. Martin, 73, of Denver, went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 11, 2020, after a short stay at the Reading Hospital. He was married 51 years to Lois A. Martin. Born in Leola, he was the son of the late Amos W. and Elva R. Horst Martin.
Larry was employed in sales at Shank Door Company for 41 years, retiring in December 2019. He was an adult Sunday school teacher for 50 years and a current member of Green Terrace Mennonite Church. Larry loved spending time with his family - especially the annual trip to the cabin. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and listening to gospel music. Along with an infectious laugh and a pension for telling a good story, Larry was a gregarious person who could strike up a conversation with just about anyone.
Surviving in addition to his wife, are three children: Jeffrey Martin, Lancaster; Janelle, wife of Jeremy Zimmerman, Lititz; JoAnne, wife of Randy Hostetter, Reinholds. He also has nine grandchildren who will greatly miss their Pop-Pop; a sister, Martha, wife of Lester Burkholder, Allentown; two brothers, Jerry Martin, husband of Rhoda Frey Martin, Dublin, GA; Nevin, husband of Louise Newswanger Martin, Fredericksburg; and a brother-in-law, Lecho Ramos, El Salvador. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Kathryn Ramos.

Bethel - Laura H. Martin, 89, of Bethel, passed away on Friday, December 11, 2020, at StoneRidge Towne Centre, Myerstown. She was the wife of Charles H. Martin. On November 11th, they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.
Born in West Earl Twp., on November 10, 1931, she was the daughter of the late David M. and Alta Hoover Martin. Laura was a member of the Fair Haven Mennonite Church.

Leland W. Martin, 74, of Ephrata, entered his heavenly home, May 6th 2020, at the Hospice & Community Care, after sustaining a head injury from a fall.
He was born in Reamstown to the late Clarence and Lydia (Weaver) Martin and was the loving husband of Erma (Hoover) Martin with whom he shared over 51 years of marriage.
Leland was a member of Hammer Creek Mennonite Church.
He cherished times spent with family, and vacationing in Sarasota, FL with friends. A lifelong truck driver, he was the former owner of Clay Trucking. He enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Buccaneer Hunting Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Wendy, wife of Harvey Byler of Clayton, DE, Jody, wife of Randy Martin, Denver, Douglas, husband of Teresa (Martin) Martin of Denver, and Darin, husband of Kendra (Bollinger) Martin of Denver; eighteen granddaughters and one grandson; seven great-grandchildren; five siblings: Louise, wife of Leon Kurtz, Eugene, husband of Marilyn Martin, Lois, wife of Lester Weaver, Larry Martin, Lynn, husband of Iliana Martin and a sister-in-law Annabel Martin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Martin.

June 1, 1931 - April 28, 2020
Lois Z. Martin, 88, of Lititz, passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on April 28, 2020 at Brethren Village. Born June 1, 1931 in New Holland, she was the daughter of the late Jonas and Emma (Zeiset) Martin.
As a young woman, Lois worked as a houseparent in a Kansas City Mennonite Children's Home, an experience that led her to pursue a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She graduated from Goshen College, Indiana, but also studied at Millersville State College and Eastern Mennonite College, Virginia, and earned a master's degree in psychology of reading at Temple University. She taught in Maryland and Michigan before settling into her 26-year career as a teacher of second graders and remedial reading at John Beck Elementary School in Warwick School District.
Lois served with Mennonite Central Committee as a village development director in Greece for three and a half years in the 1960s. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church in Lancaster. She loved music, art, language and laughter, and sought sources of enrichment that brought her pleasure and fed her deep spirituality.
Most important to Lois were the people in her life. Perhaps her greatest legacy is her hospitality and unconditionally welcoming spirit. She had countless friends, near and far, in whom she regularly invested her loving attention and time through visits, trips, phone calls and letters. She showered her love and expertise on the children who shared her classroom. She nurtured her familial relationships with her siblings and a multitude of cousins. A special twinkle in her eye and the softest spot in her heart were reserved for her nieces and nephews, who carry her spirit onward as the beneficiaries of her steadfast devotion and lifelong love. We remain forever grateful for her role as beloved aunt and for her daily modeling of gracious servanthood.
Lois is survived by ten nieces and nephews: Gerald Martin, Glenn Martin, Lowell Martin, Vernon Martin, Susanne Gonzalez, Saralee Hoover, Jeanette Newswanger, James Martin, Sara Salib and Andrew Martin, and seventeen grandnieces and nephews, and thirteen great grandnieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four siblings: Ruth Van Slochem, Amos Martin, Abram Martin and James Martin.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brethren Village Brook Place North Household and the caregivers of Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care and support.

Mahlon S. Martin, 78, of Manheim died at home on Sunday, October 18, 2020 of natural causes. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Mahlon W. and Vera (Sensenig) Martin. He was the husband of the late Erma (Garman) Martin who died in 2016. Mahlon was the founder and owner of Penn Manufacturing Company and the former Penn Fuel Oil Company, Lititz. He was a member of Conestoga Valley Mennonite Church.
Surviving are two sons: Nevin (Suzanne) Martin of Lititz and Nathan (Judith) Martin of Elverta, CA; five daughters: Nancy (Stephen) Zehr of Croghan, NY, Janice (Nathan) Mast of Dominican Republic, Joanne (David) Erb of Lebanon, Joyce (Darnell) Martin of Cambridge Springs and Jeanelle (Gerald) Bicher, Sr. of Bethel, a daughter-in-law, Greta Martin of Mechanicsville, MD; 46 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Mervin (Ruth) Martin of Lititz and Lawrence (Marian) Martin of Ephrata and two sisters: Miriam Oberholtzer of Memphis, MO and Laura (Leroy) Martin of Ephrata. Marian Irene (Keener) Martin, age 86, a resident of Brookview Health Care Center of Menno Haven in Chambersburg, PA and formerly of Greencastle died Tuesday morning June 23, 2020 in the Health Care Center.
Born November 18, 1933 in Shippensburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Paul Edgar and Anna C. (Horst) Keener. She married her husband Nevin L. Martin Sr. on January 1, 1957. He died on March 24, 1998.
She was the owner of the former Marians Fabric Shop in Greencastle. In her earlier years, she helped her husband on the family farm. Marian was a member of the Salem Ridge Community Church where she served on the sewing circle and helped with Bible School. She also was a member of the Menno Haven Auxiliary. Marian attended Shippensburg High School.
Surviving family are three daughters, Crystal Renee Hulock and husband Joseph of Mount Joy, PA, Lisa Marie Naugle and husband Steve of Waynesboro, PA, Melanie Ann Matthews of Greencastle; two sons, Nevin L. Martin Jr. and wife Carla of Goshen, Indiana, Dale Lynn Martin and wife Melinda of Chambersburg, PA, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two brothers, Clarence Keener of Camp Hill, PA, D. Mark Keener of Shippensburg, PA and one sister Esther M. Witmer of Morgantown, WV.

Myerstown - Marlin Lee Martin, 73, of Myerstown, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. He was the husband of Marlene B. Rutt Martin to whom he was married to for 52 years. He was born in Heidelberg Township, Lebanon County on October 6, 1946, a son of the late Ammon K. and Mary Weaver Martin.
Marlin was a self-employed farmer and enjoyed serving his community through the Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co. and Schaefferstown Ambulance Association. He was a member of the Faith Mennonite Fellowship in Stevens.

Martha Ann (Showalter) Martin, 66, of Dayton, passed away Friday, May 29, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. Martha was born Dec. 19, 1953, a daughter of the late Melva (Rhodes) and Harold Showalter.
She was a caregiver for many years and a member of Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church.
On Nov. 22, 1975, she was united in marriage to Dave Martin, who survives.
Martha is also survived by three sons, Brent Martin and wife, Nedra, of Mount Solon, Craig Martin and wife, Wanda, of Rockingham, and Jerry Martin and wife, Lou, of Mount Solon; sisters, Linda Nolt and husband, LeRoy, of Dayton, and Wilda Wenger and husband, Sheldon, of Bridgewater; a brother, Roland Showalter and wife, Marie, of Dayton; sister-in-law, Eva Showalter; and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Allen Showalter.

Martin, Mary Lois Lehman, died May 18, 2020 in Fulton County, McConnellsburg, PA. She was born March 6, 1940 to the late T. Weagley and Ethel M Lehman in Hagerstown, MD.
Mary Lois was the wife of Lee Edward Martin who proceeded her in death. They were married October 10, 1059. Their children are; Raedella (Dean) Martin of McConnellsburg PA, Elton (Mary Beth) Martin of Hagerstown, MD, Icilda Nelson of Huntersville, NC, Laundell (Heather) Martin of Greencastle and Ardell (Michele) Martin of Marion, PA; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Eva Martin, Gerald Lehman, Galen Lehman & Arlin Lehman.

A celebration of her life was held March 6, 2020 for her 80th birthday.
She was interned on May 18, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at Salem Ridge Community Church, Greencastle, PA with a graveside service for the immediate family.
She was a member of Northside Mennonite Church. volunteering along side Lee as a unit leader with Mennonite Disaster Service. they volunteered together organizing winter maintenance projects at Camp Gilead in Polk City, Florida.

Melvin B. Martin, 69, of Newmanstown, PA passed away peacefully at home on December 21, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.
Mel was married to Norene H. Martin (Sensenig), celebrating 48 years together on November 18th. Born in Ephrata, PA, Mel was the son of the late Allen and Katie Martin (Burkholder). He will be greatly missed by his three children: Kevin Martin, husband of Audrey (Weaver) of Denver; Karen, wife of Mark Sensenig of Ephrata; and Kenton Martin, husband of Gloria (Wenger) of Reamstown; 11 grandchildren; siblings: Irvin Martin (Lucy Martin) of Missouri, Anna (Erwin Newswenger) of Wisconsin, Allen Martin (Ellen Sensenig) and Irene (Wilmer Zimmerman), both of New York, Minerva (Leroy Hoover) of Fivepointville, PA.
Mel was an active member of Groffdale Mennonite Church. He was most recently employed by Paul B. Zimmerman in tool repair, but also worked many years as both a truck and van driver. He and his wife enjoyed spending time at the cabin, camping and riding motorcycle together with friends. His creativity was seen in the tractors he built and the special meals he shared with his family.
Mel was devoted to God and his family. His wife, children and grandchildren knew they were loved. He was an example of what it looks like to love life and others well. All who knew him will dearly miss his presence, his stories, his laughter and his appreciation for the beauty of God's creation.
Our family would like to thank all those who have been praying and visiting, we are truly blessed.
A public viewing, following COVID-19 guidelines, will take place at the Groffdale (brick) Mennonite Church, 168 N. Groffdale Road, Leola, PA 17540, on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8PM, and Monday, December 28, 2020 at 9AM, followed by funeral services at 10AM and a graveside service in the adjoining cemetery.

Nancy Ruth Martin, 71, of Faith Friendship Ministries, Mountville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, overcome by a recent diagnosis of cancer, on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Lancashire Hall. She was born in Lincoln, daughter of the late Eli S. and Ruth Dussinger Martin. She was employed by Farmer's First Bank, R.W. Sauder's Eggs, Indian Springs Golf Club and Faith Friendship Ministries. Nancy graduated from Warwick High School, Class of 1966 as a high honor roll student. She attended Hess Mennonite Church and Landisville Mennonite Church where she served her church by teaching Bible school and participating in the Prayer Partner's Sunday school class. Nancy also enjoyed the Sewing Circle, quilting and other church activities.
She leaves behind a caring church family at Landisville Mennonite Church, who loved her unconditionally. Nancy suffered most of her adult life with mental illness and had a love for Jesus and looked forward to going to heaven. In the last eight years, Nancy lived with other guests and friends at Faith Friendship Ministries, where Steve and Patty Dietch were directors and currently, Gwendolyn Didden is the director, who lovingly care for those beautiful people. Nancy considered those loving, kind people her extended family.
The Family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Lancaster General Hospital, Lancashire Hall and Hospice and Community Care for caring for her.

Nora Hoover Martin, 76, of Millmont, entered into rest Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at Evangelical Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1944, in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, she was a daughter of the late Amos N. and Alice (Hoover) Hoover. On March 2, 1967, in Ephrata Township, Lancaster County, she married Eli M. Martin, who survives. This past March they celebrated 53 years of marriage.
Nora was a member of the Mountain View Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Anna Mae Z. Martin of Millmont, Earl Ray and Edna M.Z. Martin of Elma, Iowa, Glenn Eugene and Darlene N. Martin of Millmont; son-in-law, Aaron Zimmerman of Selinsgrove; 21 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five brothers, Joseph H. and Margaret Z. Hoover of Millmont, John H. and Verna L. Nora K. Martin, 87, of Lincoln Christian Home (formerly of Schaefferstown) died Tuesday morning at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She was the wife of Irwin H. Martin. Born in Martindale, Lancaster County on November 20, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Sarah (Kurtz) Buckwalter. Nora was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church of Weaverland Conference.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three sons, Leonard B. husband of Arlene (Burkholder) Martin, Elvin B. husband of Erla (High) Martin and Harold B. husband of Mary Jane (Snyder) Martin all of Newmanstown; a daughter, Marian B. wife of Elvin Zimmerman of Leola; 18 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren; brother, Edgar Buckwalter of Ephrata; three sisters, Anna Nolt of Myerstown; Martha Nolt of Richland; Elsie wife of Ben Weaver of Ephrata; brother-in-law, Luke Lehman of Ephrata.

He was born in East Earl on April 10, 1931 a son of the late Samuel M. and Hettie Musser Martin. He was employed as an ABS Representative. Paul was a member of the Fairview Mennonite Church of the Weaverland Conference.

Randall Martin, age 51 of Wakarusa, IN, died at 7:32 am on Friday, July 10, 2020 at Elkhart General Hospital. Mr. Martin was born on July 12, 1968 in Elkhart, IN to Abraham and Edith (Martin) Martin. He was a lifelong area resident and was self employed as an excavator at Martin Excavating.
Randall is survived by his parents, Abraham and Edith Martin of Wakarusa, IN; 2 sisters, Marjorie (Lawrence) Newswanger of Goshen, IN and Jane (Andrew) Showalter of Mt. Crawford, VA; a brother, Lyndon (Rhoda) Martin of Goshen, IN; 9 nephews and 3 nieces.

Reuben W. Martin, 93, died April 18, 2020 at the Lincoln Christian Home.
He was married 72 years to Lena Snyder Martin, also a resident of the Lincoln Christian Home. Born in East Earl Twp., he was the son of the late Amos and Magdalena Weaver Martin.
Reuben had been a farmer, hauled cattle, and in later years had worked at the New Holland Sales Stables. He was a member of the Groffdale Mennonite Church, Weaverland Conference.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons and three daughters, James husband of Emma Martin of Goshen, IN, Elvin husband of Lovina Martin of Narvon, Arlene wife of Paul Zimmerman of Ephrata, Mary Jane wife of Paul Martin of New Holland, Marian wife of Daryl Martin of Gap, and Reuben, Jr., husband of Mary Lou Martin of New Holland; 24 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 14 step great-grandchildren; and a brother Amos L. husband of Frances Martin of Terre Hill.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Katie Leinbach, Lydia Ann Nolt, Lizzie Reiff, Esther Horning, Frances Hurst, Magdalena Burkholder, Emma Marin, Leah Burkholder, Anna Martin, Minnie Zimmerman, and David Martin, by a grandson, a great-grandson and a daughter-in-law Verna Martin.

Samuel S. Martin, 85, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Lincoln Christian Home.
He was born in East Earl Township to John Z. and Magdalena (Sauder) Martin. In later years he was a resident of Lincoln Christian Home. He was the husband of the late Ella M. (Weiler) Martin who passed away in October, 2017.
Samuel was a member of Lime Rock Mennonite Church, Lititz. He worked as a poultry farmer/truck driver.
Samuel is survived by 5 children, Dale W., husband of Brenda (Weaver) Martin of Stevens, Leland W. Martin of Stevens, Larry J., husband of Judy (Martin) Martin of Ephrata, Marlin W., husband of Wanda K. (Miller) Martin of Stevens, and Joyce Darlene, wife of Byron G. Hurst of Denver; 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clayton S. Martin of Ephrata, and a sister-in-law, Vera Martin of Lititz.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by 6 siblings, Anna Hoover, Elizabeth Martin, Christian, Amos, John S., and David S. Martin.

Seranus M. Martin of Mohnton, passed away at the age of 86 years, 7 months and 20 days, at home on Monday, July 13, 2020, from natural causes not related to Covid-19.
He was born November 23, 1933, in Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, to the late Wesley B. and Sarah B. (Martin) Martin. He shared 62 years of marriage with Viola B. (Martin) Martin.
He was a member of the Denver Mennonite Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Edgar (Linda) of Fredericksburg, PA, Florence of Brucefield, Ontario, Laurene (Barry) Troyer of Fairview, MI, Elmer (Louise) of Mohnton, PA, and David (Kristina) of Carmelita, Belize, Central America; 22 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren; one brother, Ira, two brothers-in-law, Wesley Sittler and Orvie (Elvina) Wideman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Sittler and Edna Wideman.

Shirley Ann Martin was born on November 3, 1961 to Orie and Anna Miller in Elkhart, Indiana. She accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized in the spring of 1977 at the age of 15. She lived her life devoted to Christ and was a member of Grove Lake Anabaptist Brotherhood Church.
Shirley was united in marriage on July 11, 1982 to Dwane Carl Martin. Together they shared nearly 38 years of marriage and God blessed them with 6 sons and 3 daughters.
Shirley had a heart of service for others and loved caring for her church family as well as her family. She found great joy and purpose in meeting her family’s needs as well as sewing and cooking. She dearly loved her many grandchildren and they were delighted recipients of her kind care. She spent her extra time taking care of her flowers and garden.
Shirley passed away peacefully to her heavenly home on June 25, 2020 at the age of 58 years, 8 months and 22 days. She will be deeply missed by her husband Dwane; children, Adam (at home), Hannah ( Wendell) Martin, of Sauk Centre, Jesse (Shirleen) Martin of Sauk Centre, Valerie (Dwight) Wenger of Brooten, Joshua (Anita) Martin of Sauk Centre, Dorvin (Kimberly) Martin of Belgrade, Russell (Marla) Martin of Wausau, Wisconsin, Rosanna (Kelvin) Martin of Gilman, Wisconsin, and Neil (Diana) Martin of Aniwa, Wisconsin; 31 grandchildren; father, Orie Miller of Goshen, Indiana, siblings, Gary Miller of Indiana, Sandra (Mark) Eberly of Indiana, Darlene (Jake) Stewart of Arkansas, Dorothy (Marvin Lee) Hurst of New York and Carolyn (Ross) Kimble of Texas.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Anna Miller, and one granddaughter Kiana Martin.

March 9, 1972 - September 18, 2020
Sonja D. Martin, 48, formerly of Elizabethtown for the past 20 years, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, September 18, 2020 following a two-year illness. After becoming ill, she moved into her mother's home so her family could better provide care for her. Her entire family surrounded her as she entered God's presence. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Ava Lee Longenecker Martin of Marietta and the late George B. Martin.
Sonja was a faithful member and deaconess of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church where she also taught Sunday school, mostly in the primary department. After graduating from Lancaster Mennonite High School in 1990, she earned a bachelor's degree from Millersville University in Special Education. Sonja completed post graduate work at Temple University where she received a master's degree in social work.
Early in her career she taught special education at the Donegal and Elizabethtown Area school districts. Sonja was employed as a therapist by Philhaven and Providence Behavioral Health Services and as a social worker by DaVita in York. Her love for people led her to volunteer for a year in Bronx, NY. She later was a staff member of Cornerstone Youth Ministries in Elizabethtown and she received great satisfaction by serving women through Sanctuary- A Light in the Darkness ministry.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three siblings, Juanita S., wife of Christopher Horst, of Elizabethtown, Melinda F., wife of Brent Eisenberger, of Pequea, and Jeffrey L., husband of Tara Martin, of Manheim. After chemotherapy prevented her from continuing to work, she invested her energy, time, and love into her nieces and nephews, Colin and Lorisa Horst, Alyse, Cole, Evan, and Janna Eisenberger, and Isaac, Adena, Jeriah, Amaris, and Azalia Martin. Sonja is also survived by a close friend, Diane Henry, and a host of other dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown, PA with Pastor Conrad Kanagy officiating. Interment will be private in Bossler Mennonite Cemetery, Elizabethtown. The family will receive guests during a public viewing at the church on Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM and again on Saturday during a luncheon in the multi-purpose room of the church immediately following the service. Stanley M. Martin, 93, of Ephrata, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at Fairmount Homes.
He was born in New Holland to the late Elmer J. and Verna (Musser) Martin and lived in Paraguay from 1942-1944. He was the husband of the late Alta B. (Hurst) Martin with whom he shared 68 years of marriage before her passing May 5, 2020.
He was a member of Dove Westgate Church.
Stanley was an electrician and worked for Lancaster Electric, Line Specialties, in later years, Meadow Valley Electric. He enjoyed his family, reading, gardening, and grafting fruit trees.
Stanley is survived by four sons, Philip, husband of Doris (Breckbill) Martin of Lititz, Dale, husband of Jaqueline (Gerhart) Martin of Ephrata, Jay, husband of Gloria (Wenger) Martin of Ephrata, Steven, husband of Carolyn (Gerlach) Martin of Lititz; four daughters, Pamela, wife of Kenneth Ebersole of Beverly, MA, Rose Martin of Lancaster, Judy, wife of Leslie Groff of Ephrata, Audrey, wife of Barry Miller of Ephrata; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Lloyd, husband of Lydia Martin of East Earl; and Earl, husband of the late Earla Martin of Robesonia.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Chester, Fred, Melvin and Shelly Martin and five sisters, Virginia Stauffer, Marion Shirk, Florence Stauffer, Vera Shirk, and June Martin.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 17, 2020 from 6 to 8 PM at Dove Westgate Church, 1755 West Main Street, Ephrata. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 12:30 PM at Memory Gardens, 319 Wabash Road, Ephrata. Thelma (Bitikofer) Martin passed away Wednesday morning, August 26th, at Lydia's House Memory Care in Albany.She was born in McPherson, Kansas on October 13, 1935 to Melvin and Cora (Bond) Bitikofer, the oldest of seven children. The family moved to Oregon in 1941.Thelma graduated from Western Mennonite High School in Salem, Oregon and attended Eastern Mennonite College in Harrisonburg, Virginia. In 1959 she married Emerson Martin, and they were married nearly 58 years before his death in 2017.One of her favorite things to do was spend time at the Oregon Coast with family and friends, watching whales and enjoying the beautiful scenery. She loved her family very much, and they felt the same about her. Thelma desired to live her life in a way that honored her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Fairview Mennonite Church.
She is survived by son Dean (Judy), daughter Sheri (Dru) Hochstetler; brothers Merle, Phares (Helen), Ervin (Nancy); sisters Eudene (Myron) Snyder, Maxine (Amos) Stoltzfus; sister-in-law Sarah Bitikofer; grandchildren Nick (Martha) Martin, Marissa (Dylan) Short, Matt (Megan) Hettwer, Hannah Hettwer, Jill (Jamie) Wakefield, Cory Hochstetler and partner Rebecca Foster, Shelby (Chris) Archuleta; and great-granddaughters Stella and Eleanor Wakefield. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mel Bitikofer. Vera Jane "Janie" Martin, 74, of Ephrata, went to be with the Lord peacefully and unexpectedly, at home on the evening of July 22, 2020, from a heart attack.
She was the loving wife of David W. Martin with whom she shared 54 years of marriage, and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Nora (Weaver) Hurst.
Janie was a homemaker who enjoyed people. She deeply cherished her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with them whenever she had a chance.
She was a member at Meadow Valley Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 4 children: Darryl R., husband of Kaye (Hurst) Martin of Newmanstown, Donna J., wife of David Sensenig of Ephrata, Wendy D., wife of Konrad Musser of Newmanstown, and Michael D., husband of Grace (Burkholder) Martin of Ephrata; 25 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are 2 brothers, R. Richard Hurst and E. Earl Hurst, both of Newmanstown, and a sister, Janet Sauder of Lebanon.
She was preceded in death by an infant grandson, an infant sister, and a brother, Glenn Hurst.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, July 26, 2020, from 1:00 - 4:00 and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Midway Reception Center, 210 E. Lexington Road, Lititz. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, at 9:30 a.m. at the Meadow Valley Mennonite Church, 200 Meadow Valley Rd., Ephrata, with Quentin Wenger, Elam Ray Martin, and Gary Zimmerman officiating.
Interment will take place in the adjoining church cemetery.

Vera M. Martin, 95, of Lititz, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at Landis Homes.
Born in Clay Township she was the daughter of the late Elam and Lavina (Gingrich) Martin.
Vera had a long and rewarding career in the nursing field. Her formal education started in a one-room school and ended at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated from Ephrata High School, class of 1941, from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing in 1947, and from Goshen College in 1952 with a BS in Natural Science in Nursing. She earned her Master's Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania in 1959. In 1972, she received a certificate of graduation in Psychoeducational Processes from Temple University. Her working career included psychiatric nursing at the Philadelphia State Hospital and Wernersville State Hospital, as well as teaching nursing at Maryland's Anne Arundel Community College and West Virginia's Marshall University of Huntington. In 1947/1948 Vera spent 14 months in Gulfport, Mississippi with the Voluntary Service of the Mennonite Central Committee, an experience she cherished. She was a member of Neffsville Mennonite Church.
Vera had a sharp mind. She enjoyed traveling and was always interested in world events. During visits with her many nieces and nephews and their families, she enjoyed reminiscing about her travels, her childhood and her siblings. And oh what interesting stories she could tell! While at Landis Homes, her birthdays were celebrated with a luncheon attended by many of her family, a day she always enjoyed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ivan and Ezra and her sisters, Sarah, Anna, Rachel, Leah, Ellen, Lavina and Irene. Vera was the last of her immediate family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Landis Homes for their kindness and their care to Aunt Vera while a resident at the home. She was quite a "gem" of an aunt!
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Akron Mennonite Cemetery, 1311 Diamond Street, Akron.

Verna M. (Groff) Martin, 77, of Stevens, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020, at home.
She was born in Lancaster County to the late Aaron S. and Edna (Zimmerman) Groff and was the wife of the late Clayton N. Martin who passed away in 2011.
She was a member of Martindale Mennonite Church (Weaverland Conf.).
Verna was a homemaker. She was also a volunteer for Christian Aid Ministries.
Verna is survived by five children, Shirley D., wife of Clair Garman of Pine Grove, D. Lamar, husband of Sharon H. (Hahn) Martin of Mt. Joy, Raymond L., husband of Eileen H. (Newswanger) Martin of Ephrata, Janet M., wife of John J. Oberholtzer of Womelsdorf, Carolyn F., wife of Lowell Martin of Stevens; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; four siblings, A. Eugene, husband of Vera Mae (Martin) Groff of Denver, Joyce, wife of Ervin Martin of Pelham, GA, Mildred, wife of Harold Martin of York, Erma N., wife of Melvin W. Weaver of Newburg, and a brother-in-law, Paul G. Burkholder of Ephrata.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Marlene G. Martin and a sister, Arlene Burkholder.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2020, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center, 352 Martindale Road, Ephrata. Verna N. Martin, 51, of Stevens, passed away on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Wellspan Ephrata Hospital.
Born in Brecknock Twp., she was the daughter of Ida Nolt Martin of Ephrata, and the late Noah Z. Martin.
She was a member of the Muddy Creek Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving in addition to her mother are four sisters, Elsie and Annetta Martin of Stevens, Marian wife of Adin Brubaker of Mohnton, and Loretta wife of Mark Hoover of Denver; nine nieces and nephews, and three great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 31, at 9:30 AM at the Muddy Creek Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus Martin officiating. Viewings will be held at the late home, 451 E. April 28, 1933 - November 16, 2020
Goshen - Henry Mast, born on April 28th, 1933, died November 16, 2020. He had been a resident of The Courtyard Healthcare Center since August, 2020.
A member of Waterford Mennonite church he was a faithful participant, serving the congregation generously. He particularly loved his Sunday School class and small group, enjoying conversation and always interested in the lives of others.
A hard worker, Henry was employed by various companies including Weyerhouser and Starcraft. He completed his career working for Starcraft for 30 years as a plant manager in Emma, Indiana.
Henry’s hobby was fixing sewing machines, a skill he learned on his own and continued to practice during his retirement years. He was known to carry his sewing machine repair kit with him and was willing to help others in any way he could. Even in his last days he enjoyed a conversation about Singer sewing machines.
Other hobbies Henry enjoyed include fishing---he always had a well-stocked freezer full of bluegill---- and cooking his own “Hank’s chili”. Henry loved an adventure and a highlight during his last years was a helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon during a family vacation to Arizona.
He loved being with people and will be remembered as a kind and generous friend.
Henry, the third youngest of twelve children, was preceded in death by his parents, Amelia and Levi Mast, his wife of 62 years, Fanny E. Mast, a daughter Rebecca, a great-grandson Jace, and his siblings, Andrew, Barbara, Daniel, Samuel, Moses, Amos, Ada, John, and Elmer.
Henry was a loving father and grandfather. He enjoyed listening to gospel quartets and spirituals and was always particularly moved when listening to his grandchildren singing.
He leaves behind an extended family, a rich legacy of great grandchildren, grandchildren, children, nieces and nephews including – Roy Mast (Sherry) , Barb Schlegel (Dallas), Grace Carpenter (Bob), Jo Taylor (Kirk), Fred Mast (Linda), John Mast (Lois), and Kay Bigler.
Family will gather for a private graveside service at Miller 8 Square Cemetery, Goshen.

Julie Faith Mast, infant daughter of LaVon and Karen (Lambright) Mast, of LaGrange, died at 10:42 am on Saturday, November 14, at New Eden Care Center, Topeka, where she was born earlier that day at 9:35 am.
Surviving in addition to her parents are grandparents, Ernest and Mary Etta Mast of LaGrange and Vernon O. and Erma Sue Lambright of Topeka; great-grandparents, Glen A. and Luella Mast of Topeka, Elmer and Katie Mast of LaGrange, Fred and Elsie Yoder of LaGrange, Orlie A. and Mary Lambright of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Kyle Eugene Mast and sister, Janie Grace Mast.

Larry A. Mast, 76, of Goshen, died Friday, October 23, 2020, at Courtyard Healthcare where he had been since March.
He was born December 5, 1943 in Goshen to Christ T. and Edna (Schmucker) Mast.
On September 27, 1980 he married Katie Hershberger.
She survives along with a son, David Lee Mast of South Bend; brothers Walter “Wally” Mast of Goshen and Norman “Norm” (Miriam) Mast of Middlebury and sisters, Miriam (John) Reist of Prior, Oklahoma and Ruth Hunt of Mishawaka.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Lamar and Omar Mast; sister-in-law, Susan Reist Mast and nephew Jason Mast.
A wonderfully loving husband and father, Larry, enjoyed helping people and did a lot of volunteering. A work-oriented man, Larry drove truck for Fidler’s for almost 35 years. He enjoyed being in nature, travelling and music.
Larry’s spirit was full of peace and joy due to his relationship with the Lord.
Visitation will be Monday, October 26, 2020, from 12, noon, until the 1:30 funeral service at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home. Pastors Merle Hostetler and Naomi Yoder of East Goshen Mennonite Church, where he was a member, will officiate.
Burial will follow in West Goshen Cemetery.

Levi D. Mast, 75 years, 9 months, 24 days, of Arcola, Illinois passed away at 4:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at the Myron Hostetler residence, 191 North Co Rd 525 E., Arcola, Illinois. Bishop Reuben Kaufman will officiate. Burial will be in the Bagdad Cemetery in rural Arcola, Illinois. Visitation will be held any time after 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Myron Hostetler residence. Levi was born on January 8, 1945 in Douglas County, Illinois. He was a son of Amos U. and Esther (Mast) Mast. He married Fannie J. Yoder on October 26, 1967 in Douglas County, they lived in Holy Matrimony 53 years.
He is survived by his wife, Fannie; He is survived by seven children, Reuben L. Mast and his wife Carolyn (Chupp) of Campbell Hill, IL, John William Mast and his wife Marie (Otto) of Arthur, IL, Amanda Louise Plank and her husband Allen of, Arcola, IL, Alton L. Mast and his wife Rose Anna (Helmuth) of Arthur, IL, Andy Mast and his wife Mary (Wengerd) of Fredericksburg, OH, Marcus Mast and his wife Anna Mary (Kaufman) of Murphysboro, IL and Clarence Mast and his wife Barbara (Otto) of Arcola, IL, 37 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Mast of Nappanee, IN and Menno Mast and his wife Lucy of Bloomfield, IA, and two sisters, Sarah Hostetler and her husband William of Auburn, KY and Mattie Mast of Windsor, MO.
His parents, an infant son, Christy Mast who was a twin to Clarence, two grandchildren, LeAnna Mast and Mervin Mast, one brother, Eli Mast and two sisters, Salina Mast and Anna Mast preceded him in death.
Levi was a woodworker. He operated Morningside Woodcraft for many years.
Levi was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

August 1, 1932 - October 8, 2020
Melvin R Mast, 88, passed away October 8, 2020, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas.
He was born August 1, 1932 to Roman and Anna (Bontrager) Mast at Hutchinson, Kansas. He lived with his parents until he moved to Golden City, Missouri to live with his sister, Emma and John Byler for 19 years. He moved with them to Oroville, California in 2008.
After the death of Emma, he was moved to Mennonite Friendship Communities where he spent the last 20 months, enjoying sleeping late and taking plenty of time with his meals. Chapel singing and working Printer’s pies were some of his favorites. He was a member of the Amish Church.
Survivors include his brother, Eli (Lydia) Mast of Ronks, Pennsylvania; sister, Fannie Otto of Arthur, Illinois; and brother-in-law, John Byler of Oroville, California.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Roman and Anna Mast; sister, Emma Byler; brother, Johnny Mast; and brother-in-law, Amos Otto.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Amish Community Building. Burial will follow at the Amish Community Cemetery, Hutchinson. Ora I. Mast, 91 years of Mountain View passed away peacefully at home on June 25, 2020. He was born in Middlebury, IN to the late Ira W. and Fannie (Bontrager) Mast September 11, 1928.
He was married to Edna Mae Schrock on August 19, 1951 and lived in matrimony 68 years. Ora was ordained to the ministry June 30, 1968. He relocated his family to Mountain View, Arkansas February 4, 1969 to pastor the Happy Hollow Mennonite Fellowship. He was faithful in his ministerial calling till his passing. He enjoyed friendly conversation with his family, friends, and whoever he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Alvin, Daniel, William, grandson, Karl Hess, and great-grandson Kendal Rangai, brothers-in-law, Leroy Schrock and Freeman Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Mae; son, Elowayne (Ester) Mast, Lincoln, Mo; daughters, Waneda (Glen) Bontrager, Mountain View, AR; Marcile (Tim) Hess Bluford, IL; 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; brothers, Melvin and Elmer, Middlebury, IN; John, Sarasota, FL; LeRoy, Mountain View, AR; Milo, Goshen, IN; Lee, Nappanee, IN; and sister-in-law, Doris Mast, Howe, IN.

Rosetta graduated from Lancaster High School, New York, in 1938 and from Bryant and Stratton Business Institute, Buffalo, New York. Following she was the school secretary of Clarence Central Schools of Clarence, New York for 20 years and a member of Lancaster Home Bureau. She was a current member of Waterford Mennonite Church and was a former member of Clarence Center-Akron Mennonite Church, New York. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading, walking, and loved to travel and visit the children and grandchildren in other states.
A Visitation will be from 10-11 AM Friday, July 10, 2020 followed by a funeral service at 11 AM all at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St. Goshen, Indiana 46526. Sovillah E. Mast, 95, of Kent, OH, formerly of Middlebury, died on Friday, October 16 at Kentridge Senior Living, Kent, OH. She was born on October 8, 1925, in Arthur, IL, to Elmer and Barbara (Yoder) Miller. On November 24, 1946 at First Mennonite Church in Middlebury, she married Ora Olen Mast; he died May 19, 2011.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen Steiner of Munroe Falls, OH, Sandra (Mike) Clark of Buckeye, AZ, Sue Ann (Steve) Himmelberger of Phoenix, AZ; six grandchildren, Michael (Jamie) Steiner of Doylestown, OH, Bryan English of Bahrain, Jonathan (Vanessa) English of Goodyear, AZ, Elizabeth (Joshua) Hawkins of Riverton, UT, Katie (Michael) Gower of Sugar Hill, GA, Amy (Nathan) Jonas of Phoenix, AZ; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Gertrude Kauffman of Elkhart; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant son, Brent Allen Mast; five brothers, Jonas, Albert, Nelson, Clarence, and Elmer Miller Jr.; sister, Irma Thomas.
Sovillah was a loving mother and grandmother, devoted to her family. She was a charter member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church. For many years, Sovillah grew a beautiful garden, full of vegetables and flowers. On occasion, people stopped by the road to admire her garden and flowers. She enjoyed working out of doors, as well as sewing and quilting. She was an avid reader and loved putting together jigsaw puzzles. She and her husband had a chicken and egg farm where she enjoyed preparing egg orders for her customers. She was a hard-worker, quiet and reserved, but always kind and friendly.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff in the memory care unit at Kentridge who so lovingly cared for our dear mother and grandmother. The family will hold private services. Services will be conducted by Pastor Mariah Martin. Burial will be in Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. Rosemary Maust, 90, Goshen, died Monday, November 23, 2020 at Goshen Hospital. She was born March 13, 1930 in Nappanee, to Neal and Fannie (Hochstetler) Slabaugh. On Oct. 23, 1949 at North Main Mennonite Church, Nappanee, she married Herbert Ray Maust and he died Jan. 21, 2013.

Rosemary was a homemaker, seamstress and volunteer at The Depot for 50 years. She was a member of Brenneman Memorial Missionary Church and the Creative Circle Home Economics Club for 30 years. She enjoyed alterations, sewing projects and serving others.
There will be a drive through viewing from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, November 28, 2020, followed by an immediate family burial. Enter the South Side of Yellow Creek Mennonite Church and funeral home staff will direct you. Pastor Steve Chupp will officiate, and burial will be at Yellow Creek Cemetery. Metzler, Christian Lehman "Lem"
September 11, 1945 - November 21, 2020
Christian Lehman "Lem" Metzler, 75, of Willow Street, PA, transitioned into heaven on November 21, 2020. He was born September 11, 1945, in Holtwood, PA, to Christian Leaman and Anna (Walters) Metzler. He grew up on a farm in what is now Muddy Run Park.
He was the husband of Alta Mae (Boll) Metzler. They were married on September 7, 1968.
Lem graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1964 and from Penn State University, with a degree in agriculture education and a science certification, in 1968. He earned an MS in dairy science at Michigan State University and completed a Biblical studies certificate at Eastern Mennonite Seminary.
Lem chose Jesus as his Savior and Lord at the age of 12, and, guided by the Holy Spirit, he lived his life in service to God. Lem and Alta volunteered for two years in Honduras, where they were involved in education and community development. They later served for six and a half years on a Mennonite Central Committee assignment in Paraguay. Lem was the agriculture extension representative on the Indian Settlement Board of Menno, Fernheim, and Neuland colonies in the central Chaco.
In September of 1980 Lem joined the faculty at Lancaster Mennonite School, where he taught ag science and technology classes, as well as earth science and freshman Bible. During his tenure, LMS established an FFA charter, the first private school in the nation to do so. LMS students went on to win many state and national awards, including a first-place win for the ag mechanics team in national competition.
After his retirement in 2007, Lem and Alta served numerous terms with Mennonite Disaster Service for disaster relief. Lem also moved equipment around the U.S. as a volunteer driver for MDS.
In addition to his wife, Lem is survived by two sons: Jonathan, married to Ann (Henry), of York, PA, and Joel, married to Andrea (Forrey), of Mountville, PA; six grandchildren: Samantha, Isabelle, Caleb, Katherine, Domingo, and Sophia; and siblings Barbara Miller (Clyde), Samuel Metzler (Janie), Joseph Metzler (Rhoda), Lillian Yoder (John), and Arlene Carpenter (James).
A life celebration will be held Saturday, December 5, at Willow Street Mennonite Church, 399 E. Penn Grant Rd., Willow Street, PA, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with a time of visitation at 10:00. Attendees are asked to wear a mask. The service will also be livestreamed at willowstreetmennonite.com/watch. Burial will be private.
The family expresses its sincere thanks for the incredible care of Dr. Reddy and the personnel of the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, and Hospice and Community Care.

Metzler, Wendell E.
March 30, 1931 - November 21, 2020
Wendell E. Metzler, age 89 of Nappanee, went to be home with his Lord and Savior at 8:15am on November 21, 2020 at Goshen General Hospital. Wendell was born on March 30, 1931 in Elkhart, IN to Ren and Mary Ethel (Buss) Metzler.
Wendell lived his entire life in the Nappanee area and was a graduate of both Nappanee High School and Bluffton College where he excelled in athletics. He held the long jump record at Nappanee High School until after the merger with Wakarusa and played football at Bluffton College. After graduating from Bluffton, Mr. Metzler returned to Nappanee and was co-owner of Metzler Shoe Company in Nappanee, IN where he worked for many years.
On June 20, 1954 Wendell married Dorothy Young in Gibson City, IL. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2018 after 64 years of marriage. Wendell was active in the Nappanee community throughout his life. He served as a Nappanee City Councilman, was a 53-year active member of the Nappanee Rotary Club, and was named the 1987 Nappanee Citizen of the Year. Wendell was also a member of the Elkhart Moose Lodge. Faith was important to Wendell; he was a member of Nappanee First Mennonite church and he was a long time Sunday School teacher.
Wendell is survived by two children, Jill (Mel) Shields of Nappanee, IN and Mark D. (Cherilyn) Metzler of Louisburg, NC; four grandchildren, Corinne (Jeff) Hertsel of Milford, IN, Trevor (Jessie) Shields of Nappanee, IN, Wran (Marnie) Metzler of Iron Station, NC and Tria (Matt Tarlton) Metzler of Raleigh, NC; seven great grandchildren and a nephew Eddie (Susan) Foster if Indianapolis.
Mr. Metzler was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two sisters, Phyllis Replogle and Josephine Stewart.
A memorial service for Wendell Metzler will be held at a later date at the Nappanee First Mennonite Church. Memorial contributions can me made in Wendell’s name to the Nappanee First Mennonite Church or Goshen Hospice and Home Care. Meyer, Albert J.
September 24, 1929 - July 31, 2020
Albert J. Meyer, educator, administrator, and churchman, died at his home from Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Jacob Conrad and Esther (Steiner) Meyer. He grew up in Wayne County. At age 16 he went with a group of “seagoing cowboys” to deliver horses to Gdansk, Poland.
Albert graduated from Smithville High School. He received his B.A. in physics and mathematics from Goshen College in 1950. The summer after college he led a voluntary service team at a mental hospital in Delaware.
He received his Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University in 1954. In addition to his doctoral studies he taught third-grade Sunday school at the Presbyterian church on campus and helped form an inter-denominational Bible study group of graduate students.
In 1953-54 he studied theology on a fellowship in Basel (Switzerland). During this time he enjoyed many biking, rock-climbing, and mountain-climbing excursions.
Oak Grove Mennonite Church, Smithville, OH, was an important influence on his life, and it was there that he was married to Mary Ellen Yoder on August 21, 1954. From that time on, they worked together as a team.
From 1954-57, he represented Mennonite Central Committee in the European Peace Section and as director of their work in France. He helped coordinate the Puidoux Theological Conferences, 1955-1957. During this time he also met with the Concern group of young adults who wrote about fuller implementation of the church as a radical, disciplined church of believers. In North America, he served on the Mennonite Church’s Peace Problems Committee (later Committee on Peace and Social Concerns) from the late 1950s to the early 1970s.
In 1957, Albert taught physics at Goshen College. In 1960, he was called to serve as academic dean and professor of physics at Bethel College (Kansas) for five years. He began to mentor young adults in their relationship with God and the church and meaningful life work and started religious small groups on campus. Back in Goshen, Albert and Mary Ellen helped found Assembly Mennonite Church as an assembly of small groups in 1974. They hosted small groups involving many college students for 47 years within Assembly and then the Open Table congregations. He would give his full attention when engaging a person in conversation. Sometimes he would speak at length, since he was well-versed in so many subjects that it was difficult for him to summarize anything briefly.
When Albert returned to Goshen in 1966, he was part-time professor of physics at the college, where he collaborated with colleague Robert C. Buschert in founding the Turner X-ray Precision Measurement Laboratory in 1969. He spent more time as executive secretary of the Mennonite Board of Education. He continued in both roles until his retirement in 1995.
He lived life with gusto. He would stride into the office and shed his long tan trench coat and plaid scarf, emerging in a grey suit and tie. At his desk, he would pull from his pockets his Day-Timer, the latest issue of Official Airline Guide, and his treasured fountain pen and be ready to face the day. On trips he would carry a couple of satchels filled with extra copies of papers for distribution.
During his time with the Board of Education he sought to support Mennonite educational institutions in their specific missions. He was creative and insightful, carefully considering the long-term consequences of any administrative action. After retirement he continued relating to MBE and its successor, Mennonite Education Agency, as senior research associate. Albert’s interest in strengthening the relationship of churches and their higher educational institutions led him to write the book Realizing Our Intentions: A Guide for Churches and Colleges with Distinctive Missions (Abilene Christian University Press, 2009).
Ever interested in ecumenical dialogue, Albert became the first staff person for the joint Mennonite Church and General Conference Mennonite Church Interchurch Relations Committee. He continued to volunteer for Mennonite Church USA Interchurch Relations until 2005.
Albert was an avid pond hockey and tennis player. He also was a ham radio enthusiast. He especially enjoyed intergenerational times with both immediate and extended family members.
In addition to his life partner, Mary Ellen (Yoder) Meyer, he is survived by five children—Richard (Brenda) Hostetler Meyer, Anne (Mark) Meyer Byler, Kathryn (Paul) Meyer Reimer, Barbara (Lane) Meyer-Reed, and Elaine (Robert) Meyer-Lee; two siblings—Margaret Meyer Irvin and John (Maria) Meyer; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by grandchildren in love, Rob Weiss and Kylie Gruner.
